《2025年课课练初中英语活页卷九年级下册译林版》

Some parents are worrying that their children would not like to eat meals. In fact, most children are usually ready to eat almost anything that is offered to them. A child often likes food unless it is badly cooked. Never ask a child whether he likes or dislikes food, and never discuss likes or dislikes in front of him or allow anybody else to do so. If the father says that he hates fat meat or the mother refuses to eat some vegetables in front of the child, he may copy what he has seen. Parents should agree to the fact that their child likes everything and he probably will. At mealtimes, it is a good idea to give a child a small part at a time rather than give him as much as he may eat. Do not talk too much to the child when you eat a meal, but let him get on with his food. Also, do not allow him to leave the table at once after a meal, or he will soon learn to eat his food hurriedly so he can hurry back to play with the toys in his room. Never coax (哄骗) a child into eating a meal, or he will think he eats for you. Don’t you think it is the same as study?

New rules and standards (行为标准) for middle school students came out in March. Middle school is going to use a new way to decide who the top students are. The best students will not only get high marks, but they will also be children who don’t dye (染) their hair, smoke or drink. The following are some of the new rules and standards.
Tell the truth. Have you ever copied someone else’s work during an exam? Don’t do it! That is not something an honest student should do. If you have played computer games for two hours in your room, do not tell your parents you have been doing homework.
Do more at school. Good students love animals and care for other people. April is Bird - loving Month in China. Is your school organizing any activities to celebrate it? You should join! In that way, you can learn more about birds and how to protect them. When more people work together, everything will be better for everyone.
Get on with others. Have you ever quarrelled with your teammates when your basketball team lost? Only working together can make your team stronger. Be friendly to the people you are working with. Try to think of others, not only yourself.
Be open to new ideas. Have you ever thought that people could live on the Moon? Maybe you will discover Earth Ⅱ someday. Don’t look down on new ideas. Everyone’s ideas are important. You should welcome them, because new ideas make everyone’s life more colourful.
Protect yourself. Has someone ever taken money from one of your classmates? Do not let it happen to you. If you have to go home late, you should let your parents know about it.
Use the Internet carefully. The Internet can be very useful for your studies. But some things on the Internet are harmful to children, so try to look through web pages that are good for you. You can use the Web for fun or study. Can’t you find any good websites for children?

答案:
Some people think they can find a way to deal with the problems of automobile crowding and pollution in large cities. Their way is to ride bicycles.
In many cities, hundreds of people ride bicycles to work every day. In New York City, some bicycle riders have even formed a group. They claim that if more people ride bicycles to work, there will be fewer automobiles in the downtown section of the city and therefore less air pollution from car engines.
For several years this group has been trying to get the city government to help bicycle riders. For example, they want the government to paint special lanes for bicycles on some of the main streets, because when bicycle riders use the same lanes as cars, there may be accidents. The group thinks that if there are special lanes, more people will ride bicycles.
But no bicycle lanes have been painted yet. Not everyone thinks painting bicycle lanes is a good idea. Taxi drivers do not like the idea—they say it will slow traffic. Some store owners on the main streets also do not like the idea—they say that if there is less traffic, they will have less business. And most people live too far from the downtown to travel by bike.
The city government has not decided what to do. It wants to keep everyone happy. At weekends, Central Park, the largest open space in New York, is closed to cars, and the roads may be used by bicycles only. But the group says that this is not enough and keeps fighting to get special bicycle lanes in the downtown. Until that happens, the safest place to ride bicycles may be the park.
