Songkran is a time for cleaning, symbolized (象征) by the throwing of water. Songkran starts on 13 April every year and lasts for three days. We call it the Thai New Year.
The Thai New Year is a good time for all children to show how much love they have for their parents. During this holiday children give some flowers to their parents and then pour some water on their parents’ hands. Songkran is also known as the Water Festival because people believe water will wash bad luck away.
