[文化鉴赏]When you think of Sweden(瑞典),what comes to mind first? Swedish meatballs or the famous store IKEA? But what about Swedish customs? They’re a little harder to think of, right? However, Sweden has some wonderful customs, some of which may be worth borrowing.
Fika
Fika is the Swedish custom of having coffee, cake or some other snacks, and a talk. Swedish people are very serious about this relaxing coffee tradition. Fika gives them a chance to meet friends, get to know new people, share ideas and so on. Fika is similar to British afternoon tea,but you can have “fikas” at any time of a day. In that way, their social needs can be met.
Donald Duck
Every Christmas Eve at 3 p. m. ,families across Sweden sit together to watch the 1958 Disney Christmas special Donald Duck and His Friends Wish You a Merry Christmas. This cartoon hour has become a very important custom. For Swedish families,it’s a great way to celebrate Christmas.
Coffee in Sweden
Coffee arrived in Sweden in the 1600s and it became popular quickly. But the kings there weren’t big fans of the new drink,so it was banned(禁止) five times between 1756 and 1817.
