Holi
Holi is a spring festival celebrated in India, also known as "the festival of colors" or "the festival of love". It celebrates the arrival of spring, a season of joy and hope. As one of the most important festivals in India, Holi is celebrated with great excitement.
Holi celebrations start with a Holika bonfire (篝火) on the night before Holi, where people gather, sing and dance. The next day is celebrated as Rangwali Holi—a free-for-all festival of colors. You can find that the air is filled with bright colors. People take turns in pouring colored water over each other. Children carry water guns or water-filled balloons to play and color each other. Some people carry drums and other musical instruments, singing from place to place.
After a day of playing with colors, people clean up and take a shower in the evening. And then they dress up and visit friends and relatives.
It's said that the spirit of Holi encourages the feeling of brotherhood in society. Even enemies (敌人) become friends during the festival.
