C 热点素材
Chinese netizens(网民)are praising a People's Liberation Army(PLA 解放军) soldier from Henan Province for a brave act. He jumped into a lake five times to save five people from dying in deep water, Xinhua News reported.
On 6 June, 36-year-old Zhang Wei was on leave from the army. He was walking by a lake with his mum in his hometown when he heard cries for help. He ran over and saw a woman and a man struggling in the water. Three others who tried to help had also fallen in and were in danger.
Zhang didn't think twice. He jumped into the water. First, he swam to the woman because she was in the worst shape. Her fear made it hard for Zhang to help her, and it tired Zhang out. But after pulling her to shore, he went back into the water without resting.
"It felt like a 100-metre race against time," said Zhang, who received swimming training. After saving four people one by one, his mum saw he was pale and out of breath. She tried to stop him from saving the last person, but Zhang saw the man was about to drop down. He knelt(跪) to his mum and said, "I'm okay. Let me save one more."
After saving the fifth person, Zhang fell down from tiredness and was taken to the hospital. He got better and left the hospital on Tuesday. The five people visited him to say thanks. "I just did my duty," Zhang said. "I'm a soldier. Protecting people is what we do."
Zhang joined the army in 2006 and has done very well. He's won two third-class awards and other honours. The local government gave him 50,000 yuan (6,960) for his bravery.
Zhang's story has made many people admire him. Netizens say he's a great example of doing his duty. His brave act shows that soldiers are always ready to protect people's lives.

答案:
8. C 【点拨】上文提及“他和妈妈在家乡的湖边散步时听到呼救声”,下文顺承表示:他跑过去,看见一个女人和一个男人在水里挣扎。
9. D 【点拨】由第三段“First, he swam to the woman because she was in the worst shape.”可知,之所以先救那位妇女是因为她的情况最糟糕。
10. C 【点拨】由“He's won two third-class awards and other honours. The local government gave him 50,000 yuan(6,960) for his bravery.”可知,作者通过举例支持第六段。
11. C 【点拨】本文报道河南籍解放军士兵张伟休假期间连续五次跳入水中救出溺水者,耗尽体力住院治疗,故 C 项概括了文章主旨,适合作文章标题。
