It was a hard final soccer match. Just before it ended, I kicked the winning goal. “Ollie! You are really our hero!” My best friend Mike gave me a hug and cheered excitedly. Everyone was happily celebrating, and even a couple of dogs joined in.
Then I heard a loud voice, “Stop!”
I turned around and saw two dogs playing with a long red toy. Soon everyone crowded around and I realized they weren’t playing with a toy at all. It was the surprise scarf I’d been knitting (编织) for Mike!
I ran over to try to get my scarf back. Unluckily, two boys from the other team took it first and laughed at me.
“Hey, soccer star! Does this belong to you?”
“That’s my knitting!” I said. “Could you please give it back?”
“Ha! Knitting is for girls!” one boy laughed, throwing the scarf to the other.
I smiled and said, “If you love my scarf, you can keep it. I’ve been planning to make another one in green.”
“I think knitting is for boys, too. ” Mike asked, “Can you teach me how to knit later?”
“Of course!” I replied.
Finally, the two boys threw my scarf back and said “Sorry” as they ran off.
Our coach ended up celebrating our big win by ordering some pizzas. After we ate up, I showed Mike how to do a few basic knitting skills. Then, believe it or not, five more teammates wanted to learn. We decided to get together another day so that I could teach them.
So the people who think boys should do only “boy” things and girls should do only “girl” things can have their opinions. I just disagree and want to do what I like to do!
