In 2015, a carmaker from Sweden, tested its self-driving cars in Beijing. Later, Chinese carmakers started making self-driving cars too.
Right now, China is on its way to becoming the world's largest market for self-driving cars. By 2040, China will have 12,000,000 robot taxis, followed by the US with around 7,000,000.
However, some people are worried about the safety of the cars. In Wuhan, self-driving cars have had some small accidents. Once, one such car stopped in front of a bag and caused a traffic jam (交通拥堵). Another time, two cars stopped face to face and did not know what to do next. These might seem funny but can really be dangerous.
