五、阅读理解
Robots are playing an important part in our life. They can help people do lots of boring and dangerous work. They're useful because they never get tired and bored and can't feel any pain(疼痛). But these days, some scientists believe it's a good idea to make robots feel pain.
Scientists from Germany are working on teaching robots how to feel pain. “Pain is a system that protects us humans,” said Johannes Kuehn, one of the scientists. “When we stay away from the things that could make us feel pain, we'll not get hurt.”
How dangerous it would be if we couldn't feel pain! Although pain hurts, it helps us keep away from dangerous things. The same will be true for robots. As a greater number of people work closely with robots, robots need to be smarter to protect themselves. Johannes believes that if humans protect robots, robots will protect humans as well.
Some Japanese scientists have made a robot which can see pain on human faces. Robots will be very useful in everyday life if they can see pain on human faces. For example, if robots can see pain on human faces, they'll be able to care for old people.
It's clear that robots are more and more like humans. Maybe in the future, robots will think and talk like humans. Do you agree?
