Meet the characters
Flik: He is a worker ant (工蚁). He likes making new things.
Atta: She is an ant princess (公主). She tries her best to help her ants.
Hopper: He is the head of the grasshoppers (蚱蜢). He is greedy.
What's the story about?
There is an ant island (岛). Thousands of ants live there. The ants work hard. They spend all summer collecting food. But the food is not for themselves. There are a group of bad grasshoppers. They come and take the food every year.
This year, the ants have a problem. They can't give the grasshoppers food. But grasshoppers ask for more food. So the ants can't bear (承受) any more. An ant named Flik stands out. He goes out and finds a group of circus bugs (马戏虫). They will help fight the grasshoppers.
On the island, the bugs save Dot, Atta's young sister. From a big bird, Flik gets an idea. The grasshoppers are afraid of birds. So Flik makes a bird. But Hopper finds out that it's not a real bird. So he beats (打) Flik. However, Flik doesn't stop fighting. He calls all the bugs and the ants to stand up. They drive the grasshoppers out of the ant island.
