Wang Zhijun is a teacher. By the age of 48,he has been teaching at a school in Chongyang County,Hubei Province, for over 28 years. His school is surrounded by water on three sides, making it hard to reach. As the only one in the village,it was destroyed(毁坏) by heavy rain, and was rebuilt later.
However,Wang didn’t give up,and he treated the school as his home. He bought a small wooden boat to help students from remote(偏远的) areas cross the rivers so they could arrive at school on time. When the weather is bad or the water level is too high,Wang invites his students to stay at school and eat with him for safety.
“Some students, sometimes, even lived here for more than a week when their parents couldn’t come to pick them up. The children see the school as their second home,” Wang said. Over the years,Wang had several chances to teach in the town, but he said he would worry about the children in the remote areas.
There are about 800 people in the village.
