A Special Summer Experience of Middle School Students
During the summer holiday, while many students were busy with travelling, summer camps, and various courses, in a big city, twelve kids, who were all cousins from a large family, chose to do something different.
The kids went on a special journey, selling vegetables at a local market. Among them, the eldest was 21 years old, and the youngest was only 10. Eight of them are from rural areas.
The idea is from Dalin, an 18-year-old senior high graduate, and her 12-year-old brother Xiaolin. Dalin shared with the City Morning Post, "We conducted (实施) this social practice because it can bring us closer and help us understand how hard our parents work."
The days of selling vegetables were filled with hardships. Every morning, they got up at 3 o'clock. Some of them made their way to the farmer's market, bargaining (讲价) skillfully with the sellers to buy fresh vegetables at a good price. Others rushed to the local market to set up stalls (摊位).
