To build the Great Wall over the mountains and down the valleys(山谷)wasnot easy at all in the past. When we look at the Great Wall, we can’t help wondering how the Chinese working people were able to build it withoutany modern machines.
There are tall watchtowers along the Great Wall. Once upon a time, soldiers protectedthe country from the enemies(敌人) day and night.They kept watchingthe enemies in the watchtowers and made a fire on the towers to tell each other when the enemies came.
Although/Thoughwe don’t use the Great Wall to keep away the enemies any more today, it is a famous place of interest to all the people in the world. Every year thousandsof people come to visit it from all over the world.
