Last Friday, our class took a special trip to an old town Stone Village. All the houses and streets were built with old stones, and our guide told us some were more than 200 years old—older than our grandparents!
Our first stop was a small family bakery(烘焙坊). A friendly woman showed us how to make our own bread in the traditional(传统的) way. While our bread baked, we visited the village museum. We saw many old farming tools(工具) there. The guide let me try carrying a wooden water bucket(桶). I couldn't believe how children used to carry these heavy buckets every day! “This is how children carried water every day in the past.” he said.
After lunch, the whole class played traditional village games on the old street. The sack(麻袋) race was the funniest. We hopped around in bags and laughed when we fell over. Some children from the village also joined in it, showing us how to play.
As the sun began to set, we sat under an old oak tree and drew pictures of the village. I drew the bakery with smoke coming out of its chimney(烟囱). Watching the golden light on the stone walls, I truly understood how different life was here in the past. The trip wasn't just fun—we had traveled back in time.

Last weekend, I wanted to watch a movie with friends. “Josh, you should spend more time with your grandfather,” my mom said. I said unhappily, “But he never does anything fun.” However, mom's face meant I had to stop talking.
I knocked on my grandfather's door slowly. “Grandpa, would you like to do something together?” “Sure! Why not go for a walk in the forest?” Grandpa said. Taking a walk in the forest would be “as fun as” watching paint dry, I thought.
“There is something you don't know,” he walked in front of me and moved like a rabbit. Seeing many strawberries, he began telling me about the berries.
I tried to look interested. “I know, mom buys them in the supermarket.” “Sure, but they taste better here.” As he dropped(扔) some into my hands, I was surprised because of their sweetness. I started getting interested. Grandpa pointed at a foxglove's flower, telling me about its medicinal(药用的) use. As I looked at the plant, I wondered how grandpa knew so much. Maybe this day would turn out to be an interesting adventure(冒险).
