中国首位踏入F1学院赛场的车手
In 2023, Formula One(一级方程式赛车) started a women-only racing championship(锦标赛) named F1 Academy. From March 21 to 23, the first F1 Academy event of the 2025 season took place in Shanghai. This time, Chinese fans cheered for(为……加油) Shi Wei, the first Chinese woman to compete in the F1 Academy.
Apart from being a racer, Shi has also been a popular sports blogger. She has had a love for racing since childhood. In 2020, she came across a real Formula racing car for the first time. This made her dream of racing even clearer.
However, being a female race car driver is not easy, as the sport needs great physical fitness (体能). A race car’s brake pedal(刹车踏板) is very heavy, and it took Shi two years of leg training to develop the strength to brake properly. Shi is trying hard to make her body stronger. “My neck grew 2.5 centimeters thicker in three months,” she said to China Daily.
Shi’s entry into the F1 Academy shows the rise of Chinese women drivers in the sport. “I hope to encourage more women to join motorsports,” Shi told China Daily.
