Victor wakes up at 6:30 and then he goes back to sleep again because it is Saturday and there is no school. After three more hours, he wakes up again. This time, he gets up. He eats some bread and watches TV in the living room. His mum comes in. "Will you please tidy your room up? How can anybody live like this? Also, why don't you give your dad a hand with the garden? And you never wash up. We do everything here," she says to Victor angrily.
"OK, Mum," Victor says quietly. But he wants to check his emails and then he plans to spend the day playing online games with friends from all over the world. It is a beautiful and sunny day, but Victor draws his curtains(拉上窗帘). He shuts the sun out.
He turns on the computer. He feels so excited. Then—disaster—no internet connection! Victor feels unhappy and then angry. He punches his pillow and his cat runs downstairs in a panic. He calls his dad up and they try to solve the problem. Then Mum comes up. "It's not just us," she says. "The whole street is down."
Victor feels like a ship in the ocean that has completely lost its way. "Come on, son, let's go to the garden!" Victor's dad says.
They start working and Victor begins enjoying it. Then, Sadie from two doors down comes over and starts chatting with him. She is in the same year group as Victor and he thinks she is sweet and friendly. She begins to help with the gardening.
That evening, the internet comes back on, but Victor doesn't care. He chats with Sadie happily for hours and plans to meet her later.
