Dear Cao Yan,
How are you doing? I had a wonderful trip in Sichuan. I arrived by plane with my family on the late afternoon of 3rd May. We stayed here for only the next three days but I quite enjoyed myself. Now, I’m writing to you at Chengdu Shuangliu Airport. We’re waiting for our night flight. These three days, we visited some places of interest such as Mount Emei and Jiuzhaigou. We also took some photos and enjoyed the delicious food. It was so hot(辣的) and very different from our food. People here were very friendly and helped us find our way. We thanked them so much.
We bought many gifts in the shops here. Guess what I bought for you!

Yours,
Jack

My grandmother left me almost 18 years ago but I still miss her every day. She was such an important part of my life. My mum, dad, brothers and I lived in her old house for most of my childhood. When I close my eyes and open my heart, that is how I remember her. I can still see her in her flower-print cotton dress. I can hear her high voice say “hello” as I opened the door after school, while her arms opened to give me a big hug and kiss. I can even remember how she smelled. When she hugged me I could feel the love and joy coming from her heart into mine.
I thought I knew everything about my “Nana” but amazingly, I am still learning more about her even today. Just yesterday an old family friend stopped to talk to me at the post office. She told me what happened once she visited my Nana when I was still a little boy. They were sitting around the dining room table talking and our friend noticed the lovely earrings my Nana was wearing. She told Nana how much she liked them and asked if she could leave them to her in her will. Without a second thought, my sweet Nana took them off and gave them to her on the spot.
I decided then that I want to consider Nana as my role model. Be nice and care more about people and less about things.
