Many people are very familiar with the saying, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” So when you eat Western food, remember to do as they do. Every place has its different eating cultures, so when you reach a different place, please respect the local cultures.
As we all know, knives and forks are used for most Western foods. The fork is held in your left hand and the knife is in your right hand. Then the food is held with the fork and cut with the knife. Almost every Westerner knows these when they were children. But, many Chinese easily make mistakes in using them.
Luckily, we eat food with chopsticks. Almost every Chinese knows how to use chopsticks when they were children, too. But for Westerners, it’s more difficult to use chopsticks to eat. In Western countries, soup is eaten with a spoon. And there is some food which you can eat with your fingers.
