Cleaning Your Ears
These headphones aren't for listening to music, but for cleaning your ears! Designed by a US - based company named SafKan Health, these “headphones” shoot water into the user's ear canals(耳道) and break down earwax (耳垢) in just 35 seconds. Then they softly draw the earwax back into waste containers(容器) without hurting the ears. The process is “safe and effective”, according to the company.
Keeping Its Shape
Basketballs can become flat because the air inside them goes out over time. Then you need to pump air into them. A US company has made a new basketball. It doesn't need air and will never go flat. Wilson Sporting Goods used 3D printing technology to make it. They used a special material so that the ball can bounce just like other basketballs. It can also be used in hot and cold environments and won't change shape.
A company has made a new sports watch. It's friendly to earth. The case(表壳) and band(表带) are made from plants, like corn and castor seeds(蓖麻籽). It won't make polluting gases when people burn it later as garbage. Its packaging is made of recycled paper instead of plastic.

I grew up in a poor family. My dad died when I was 3 years old, leaving my mom with the job of raising nine kids. She worked in a factory for 50 dollars a week and had another job at a poultry plant(家禽厂). She worked very hard. In order to make ends meet, she never took time off.
My mom did all she could do to take on her responsibilities(责任). As a result, we kids always got the things we needed. With my mom as my role model, I learned that hard work is the best way to get what you want.
In junior high, I started playing basketball on my school team. I loved playing it and I enjoyed working hard to win.
For me, it paid off. I put the effort into it every day. However, some people waited for me to fail, saying, “Karl Malone can’t do it.” Instead of letting people like that get to me, I continued to prove them wrong. I tried to do my best to make my family proud.
While everyone else was looking up to popular sports stars, actors and musicians as role models, my mom was my inspiration. She taught me that hard work pays off. At the end of my life, I don’t want to be remembered as the kind of person who just sat on their rear end and said, “I’ve made it.” I don’t want to say that I didn’t give it everything I’ve got. Sure there were days when I didn’t feel like working hard ... but I did it anyway. And that’s how I’m working toward becoming a successful basketball player.

A. Hard work is not enough.
