Farmer John and Mrs John

Farmer John has a cow. It gives a lot of milk every day. Mrs John sells milk at the market. One day, Mrs John comes home. She is very excited. “There's a dance on Saturday. Can we go?” “No, we don't have money to buy nice clothes,” says John. Mrs John is very sad.

The next day, John has an idea. He takes the cow to the market and sells it. He buys a very beautiful dress for Mrs John. “We can go to the dance,” John says. But Mrs John is angry. “Our cow gives us milk. We sell the milk. Then, we have money to buy food!” she says. “But you want beautiful clothes for the dance,” says John. “Can we eat the beautiful dress?” Mrs John asks. “No, we can't,” says John. Finally, Farmer John takes the dress back to the market. He buys his cow back.
