【要点精讲】
interest 既可作名词又可作动词。
(1)作名词，意为“业余爱好；兴趣”，常见搭配：have an/no interest in sth. 对某事物有/没有兴趣；take an interest (in sth. )(对某事物)产生兴趣。例如：
His interests include reading and hiking. 他的爱好包括阅读和徒步旅行。
I have no interest in seeing the movie. 我对看电影没有兴趣。
Do your parents take an interest in your friends? 你的父母有兴趣了解你的朋友吗？
(2)作及物动词，意为“使感兴趣”。例如：
The teacher tried to interest the students in science. 老师努力激发学生们对科学的兴趣。

(1)less 作形容词时，意为“较少的；更少的”，用于修饰不可数名词，表示数量上的减少，常与 than 搭配，如 less than 意为“少于；不到”，no less than 意为“多达；不少于”。例如：
Doctors recommend eating less salt. 医生建议少吃盐。
She has less than 10 yuan in her pocket. 她口袋里有不到 10 元钱。
(2)less 作副词时，意为“较少地；更少地”，表示程度上的“较低”或“较少”，可用于修饰动词，也可放在形容词或其他副词原级前，构成比较级。例如：
She speaks less loudly than her sister. 她说话的声音比她姐姐小。
