四、阅读表达(10分)
What’s your favourite Chinese New Year tradition? Three students from Xinhua Middle School shared their ideas. Let’s take a look at which tradition they like most.
Feng Fang: My favourite tradition is hanging lanterns. It started during the Han Dynasty. The emperor(皇帝) asked every family to hang five-coloured lanterns before and after the Lantern Festival to pray for (祈求) good luck. From then on, Chinese people started hanging lanterns to welcome the New Year.
Li Lin: My favourite is the family reunion dinner. Everyone in the family gets together to eat and talk with each other. No matter how far away family members are, they make it home for the meal. Of all the dishes, I like the eight-treasure rice pudding best. My grandma cooks it for me every year.
Wang Li: What I love most about the tradition is dusting. Dusting means “chuchen” in Chinese. All my family members do a thorough cleaning to sweep away the bad luck of the past year so that everything looks fresh in the New Year.
40. What’s this passage about?
41. When did people start hanging lanterns?
42. What’s Li Lin’s favourite food at the family reunion dinner?
