B
Children’s Day is a holiday to celebrate the happiness, healthy growth and bright future of children. Now more than 90 countries around the world celebrate it, but people in different countries celebrate it in different ways. Some students from different countries share their celebrations.
In Japan, we have two Children’s Days. One for boys and one for girls. Our boys often celebrate it on May 5th. Before the holiday, my parents usually hang many colorful fish-shaped flags(旗帜) outside my house and decorate my room to wish me strong and healthy. On that day, my mother always makes traditional rice cakes for me.
We celebrate it on April 30th. We have to go to school on that day, but we don’t have any lessons. We play games, enjoy music and much more. After school, our parents will take us to children’s museums, cinemas and zoos. But they are all free. Sometimes, radio and TV presenters bring children on their shows to talk about their holidays.
We celebrate Children’s Day on May 5th. And in my country it means the beginning of summer. Parents have to work longer during the week to have an extra day to spend with their children. Children can have one day off from school. Families often celebrate it by having a picnic or going to the park, the cinema, or the zoo.
