五、阅读理解
It was my first day at Rainbow Middle School. I know it sounds like a name of a preschool. The school is not as large as the old one. It has red walls and all the buildings have one floor. How boring (无聊的)!
“Are you new here? I never see you before. Anyway, I love the game ‘Worldscapes’ very much. It’s one of my favourite games. Oh yeah, by the way, I’m Macy!” the girl said.
Then the bell rang (响起铃声). The girl and I went to different classrooms. After everyone came in and sat down, Mrs Everett called me up to the front of the room and introduced me to the class. We had 3 subjects — English, Maths and Art.
It was lunchtime. I went out and checked (检查) my schoolbag for my lunch. It was a big hamburger.
This school doesn’t have a dining hall, so the lunch tables are outside. I didn’t know where I should sit. I hoped I could find the girl Macy. “Hey! If you want, you can come and sit with us,” Macy said loudly. I walked to her slowly. But I fell down and I blushed (脸红).
The girls at the table started comforting (安慰) me and telling me it was okay. It made me feel not so embarrassed (尴尬的), but I still couldn’t wait before the day was over. When the final bell rang, I ran outside but my mom didn’t come. The girls that I sat with at lunchtime tried to tell me all the school news, like the school football match. I tried to be polite. When my mom came, I said goodbye quickly and got into the car.
