High Technology High School of the US will have a Science and Technology Festival, which will last a week from December 17th to December 23rd. The topic of the festival is "What can you do for the International Space Station (ISS, 国际空间站)?" Well, the US middle school students write code (代码) for the ISS!
In 2015, more than 650 students joined in the Zero Robotics competition. It was the world's first robotics competition in the space station. It went on for five weeks. They did a lot for the competition.
Students first learned basic skills about coding, robotics and space engineering. Then, they tried to use their skills in the competition. They had to control satellites (人造卫星) in the station. The satellites look like balls and can move in any direction. They also helped with some other activities, like taking pictures.
"Amazing! You would never think this little thing you did over the summer could go to the International Space Station," said Steven Cheng, a member of the Texas team.
Cheng's teammate Tristan Wiesepape felt the same. "It doesn't seem real. We were always kind of interested in science, so this was just great," he said.
If you are fond of the festival, don't hesitate to come to High Technology High School!
