本单元知识要点：
1. Could you please …？礼貌地提出请求,please 后面接动词原形；could 此处表示委婉语气。
如：Lily,could you please tell me why you are late again？丽丽,请你告诉我你为什么又迟到了,好吗？
2. on one's right 在某人的右边。
如：You'll find the library on your right. 你会发现图书馆在你的右边。
3. rush to do sth. 急于做某事。
如：People rush to catch the bus during the rush hour. 交通高峰期时人们急于赶公交车。
4. (1) suggest sth. 提议某事。
如：He suggested a picnic yesterday. 昨天他建议野餐。
(2) suggest doing sth. 建议做某事。
如：I suggest going in my car. 我提议坐我的车去。
(3) “suggest + that”引导的宾语从句(从句中的谓语用“should + 动词原形”,should 可以省略)。
如：I suggest that we (should) go out to eat. 我提议我们出去吃饭。
5. on one's way to …在某人去……的路上(当所接是 home,here,there,abroad 等地点副词时,则省略 to)。
如：I'll stop at the post office on my way to the restaurant. 在去餐馆的路上,我要在邮局停一下。
I met my best friend on my way home. 在回家的路上,我遇到我最好的朋友。
6. pass by 路过,经过。相当于 pass 或 go past。
如：She played her violin to the people who passed by in the street to raise money. 她给过路的人拉小提琴来筹钱。
7. thank sb. for (doing) sth. 因(做)某事而感谢某人。
如：Thank the boy for his advice. 谢谢那个男孩给的建议。
8. sound v. 听起来,后接形容词作表语。类似用法的还有：look(看起来),smell(闻起来),taste(尝起来),feel(感觉)。
如：Her voice sounds so sweet. Everybody likes her very much. 她的声音听起来真甜。人人都喜欢她。
The fish smells bad. We'd better throw it away. 鱼闻起来很臭。我们最好扔掉它。
9. depend on/upon 取决于；由……而定。还可表示“依靠；依赖；信任”等意思。
如：Don't depend on others,just depend on yourself. 不要依靠他人,要靠自己。
10. make a request/requests 请求；提出要求。
如：If you have any difficulty,please make a request to your headmaster. 如果你有困难,请向校长提出。
11. the corner of …在……的拐角处/角落；at the corner 在角落。
如：The boy is standing at the corner. 那个男孩正站在拐角处。
12. look forward to doing sth. 期待做某事。
如：We are really looking forward to seeing you again. 我们非常盼望能再见到你。
13. Could you tell me how to get to the park？请你告诉我怎样才能去公园,好吗？其中的 how to get to the park 是特殊疑问词与动词不定式连用,用作宾语,但不是宾语从句,相当于 how I can get to the park(宾语从句)。
如：I don't know how to solve the problem.
= I don't know how I can solve the problem. 我不知道如何解决这个问题。
