Growing up in a Chinese community in Vancouver, Canada, I was influenced by both Canadian and Chinese culture during my childhood.
In my community, many traditions and cultural traits (特征) 1 by Chinese immigrants (移民) remain alive. For example, when Chinese neighbours meet, they greet each other 2 and sometimes stop for a chat. Elderly members still 3 with their children instead of in old people's homes.

Many children of Chinese immigrants, like me, speak English at school and Chinese at home, which makes communicating in both languages without any 7. Chinese communities also celebrate Canadian holidays like Halloween, which are not often celebrated in China.
Canadian culture is also influenced by Chinese culture. Chinese dishes are particularly popular throughout Canada, and many people are 8 trying them. More and more non-Chinese Canadians are learning the 9 in order to enjoy Chinese holiday celebrations and communicate with their Chinese friends.
