五、完形填空
Yesterday, my 15-year-old brother Tommy had a fight with my 12-year-old brother Kevin. Later, when I was walking upstairs (往楼上), I heard Kevin 1 in his room. I knocked on the 2 and asked, “Kevin, do you want to talk?” No one answered. I took out some cards and wrote, “If you don’t want to talk, we can write notes.”
An hour later, I was 3 sitting on the floor outside his door with two pads(便签本) of paper in my hands. One pad was new and the other was from Kevin. 4 I read one of Kevin’s notes, tears(眼泪) came to my eyes. It said, “ 5 in this family cares about me. Dad and Tommy are both mean(不友善的) to me. You’re never around to even notice me.”
He was right about me. I 6 back, “Kevin, I do love you and you know that. I’m here for you and you are loved in this 7 .”
He didn’t reply for a while, but then I heard him cry a little. Kevin ran out of(用完) cards and wrote “Thanks” on a paper cup. I wrote back, “For what?” It was 8 with “Loving me” on it.
Since then, I have tried my best to 9 my family members. Kevin and I have a 10 relationship now, and when one of us notices that the other is unhappy, we’ll smile and say, “Write it on a paper cup.”

六、短文阅读
In my early childhood, I was often surprised when I saw my father making a little money with difficulty. Being a child, I was unable to understand him. When I was older, my father started doing a part-time job at home.
I can’t forget how he played with me when I was 3-4 years old. Whenever I felt unhappy, he would cheer me up. He also cared about my lessons and often helped me prepare for exams. Later, he sent me to New Delhi for the best education(教育). Whenever I needed money, he never refused. He always managed to provide money for my studies.
Two years ago, I got a job at a hospital in New Delhi. When I helped my first patient (病人), I got a lot of satisfaction. When I received my first salary(薪水), I spent it all on myself.
When I returned home one fine morning, I heard my father talking with a neighbour. He was telling him about my success in the job very proudly. A dream that his son should become better than himself came true.
The past 23 years came into my mind in a moment. I knew my father loved me very much. I could understand the meaning of my father’s aspirations(志向). The financial(经济) difficulty he was facing was driven by his goal(目标)—making his child more successful than himself.
Today, if I am successful, this is because of my father.
