话题:高铁 难度:★★★ 建议用时:6'
In the 19th century, trains were the best way to travel long distances (距离) over land. Trains were fast and convenient. In the 20th century, airplanes replaced trains for long-distance travel. Today, however, high-speed trains are attracting (吸引) passengers again.
France has a train called the TGV. TGV is “Train à Grande Vitesse” in French, which means “high-speed train”. A TGV train operates at speed up to 320km/h. The passengers can travel from Paris to Marseilles in about three hours.
The first country to have a high-speed train is Japan. The Bullet train offers a fast, smooth ride between Tokyo and other major cities in Japan. The train can travel between Tokyo and Osaka in just three hours.
China’s high-speed trains, however, can reach an average speed of 250~350 km/h. Over 3,000 bullet trains numbered by G, D or C run daily connecting hundreds of cities in China and covering most of the country’s provinces. Beijing-Shanghai high-speed trains link the two megacities (特大城市) 1,318 km away in just 4.5 hours.
By now, China keeps the world’s largest High-Speed Railway (HSR) network. The world’s longest HSR line, Beijing-Hong Kong High-Speed Railway, extends more than 2,200 km.
