(1 至 4 题每题答案不超过 3 个单词,5 题须用完整句子回答。)
话题:刺绣 难度:★★★ 建议用时:8’
Embroidery (刺绣) is an important art form in Chinese culture. In the past, people embroidered on handkerchiefs, bed covers, tablecloths and dresses. Girls would embroider on a sachet (香囊) as a gift for their lovers. The most famous embroidery styles are Suzhou embroidery (Su Xiu), Hunan embroidery (Xiang Xiu), Guangdong embroidery (Yue Xiu) and Sichuan embroidery (Shu Xiu).
Sichuan embroidery is the oldest of the four. It is known for its smooth needlework (针线活) and beautiful colors. It dates back to the Han Dynasty. People sold it to other countries through South Silk Road.
Embroidery takes time and patience. It might take as long as a whole day to finish just 10 cm of embroidery. By the 1970s, Sichuan had as many as 5,000 embroiderers. But since modern machines can make cheaper embroidery products today, fewer people buy handmade Sichuan embroidery products. There are also very few young embroiderers, so the skill is in danger of dying out. To protect the skill, Sichuan embroidery was added to China’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage List (国家级非物质文化遗产名录) in 2006.
