What do you like about holidays? For me, I really enjoy eating special holiday food.

In the US, we often eat roasted (烤) turkey for Christmas. We also like to drink eggnog. Eggnog is a special drink with milk, cream, sugar and eggs. Hot chocolate is also very popular in the US during wintertime. Another fun Christmas food is gingerbread. Gingerbread is a kind of sweet cookie. Smelling gingerbread always reminds (使想起) me of Christmas.
I started to live in Singapore many years ago and I was shocked when I first knew that people in Singapore celebrated Chinese New Year as well. During the holiday, people often eat some special dishes, like *Pen Cai*, *Yau gok*, longevity noodles and so on. I love *Yau gok* most because they are sweet.
I think holiday food is very special. It not only tastes good but also makes you think of loved ones. Sometimes making holiday food is not so easy, but eating holiday food together can keep friendships and family ties (纽带) strong. Even if you eat alone, it can make you think of home and feel happy.
Still, people from different places celebrate festivals with their own food. Can you think of any other holiday food? Which ones are your favourites?
