B
This summer, breakdancing appeared on its biggest stage for the first time: the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. This is a new sport event in Olympic Games.

In the early 1970s, dancers in New York started doing a new dance at block parties. They mixed(融合) in cool moves from gymnastics(体操) and kung fu. They called their dance "b-boying". Later, many people started to call it "breakdancing". But the dancers like the name "breaking".
In the 1980s, the dance hit some other cities, like Los Angeles. In 1990, Frankfurt in Germany held the first breaking competition, Battle of the Year. In 2020, breaking went into the Olympics as a sport event. In the 2024 Olympics, many young people became fans of breaking.
▲ During the Olympics, there are 32 dancers — 16 boys and 16 girls. When a DJ plays music, each dancer has three minutes to show their moves, like footwork, spins, and freezes. Dancers often use hands or heads to keep balance(平衡). If dancers want to get the best score(分数), they need to do cool moves and show their own styles. It's important to be confident(自信的) too!
Now, breaking is a mix of sport and art in the world. Dancers make it a fun way to connect with others!
