C

My friend Ollie and his grandma are so close! Abuela is like a mom to him. I invite Ollie and his grandma to come over for the Mother's Day tea party.
I make a card for mom, but I still want to buy some presents. Ollie wants to buy roses, but everything is so expensive at the flower store. We know how hard to find the best Mother's Day gift.
Luckily, we help our neighbour Mrs. Nishakawa weed(除草) in her beautiful garden. As the reward, we can choose whatever flowers we like in the garden. We wrap(包裹) them with beautiful paper.
"These look even better than the ones at the store!" Ollie says.
On the way home, we have a plan — to hide these in my bedroom. At the right time, we will surprise everybody.
Just as everyone drinks tea, Ollie and I are ready to get our surprise. "Nooo!" I shout when I get to the bedroom. Everyone rushes to see what is happening.
Right there, two cats happily run around in a big mess of the petals(花瓣) and stems(花茎).
"<u>O<u>n<u>c<u>e <u>t<u>h<u>e<u>s<u>e <u>w<u>e<u>r<u>e <u>b<u>e<u>au<u>tiful. We made them at Mrs. Nishakawa's. They should be for Mother's Day." I explain.
"Oh, thank you!" says Abuela.
"This might be a catnip(猫薄荷)! It makes cats excited!" my mom says, picking up a leaf. She is the first to giggle. Then Abuela and my dad start laughing too. Finally Ollie and I join in.
Abuela and my mom say they will remember our catnip Mother's Day forever!
