I'm from Germany and German is my native language. I started to learn English when I was six years old. My dad inspired (激励) me to listen to songs by some excel-lent singers. I listened to them every day. In the beginning I couldn't understand any-thing of what they were singing. But soon I started to understand some words.
Later I borrowed a book with the words of their songs from my best friend. I read the book many times. Still, I understood very little of the meaning. It became my dream to learn English well so that I could understand them. That is how I started my way towards English.
Today, I can understand those singers very clearly. Each time I hear their songs, I am happy because I have made my dream come true. I also listen to other songs, all in English.
When I was 13, I started reading story-books by Americans. But I couldn't read the original versions (原版) because I didn't know English so well. I thought the books would be more interesting in English. I finally decided to read the books in English. I learned every new English word I met. By doing this I felt my reading was improving. Then I could finally understand the books that I read in English. I will never forget that moment. For the last four years I have read a lot of books in English.
