I remember when I first became interested in the tango(探戈):I was
thirteen years old and I saw an old movie about Argentina and everyone was
1C the tango.I'd never seen anything so powerful in my life,and I knew
that I wanted to 2A it.I talked my mom into letting me take some classes,
and when she realized I was 3B,she started taking me to classes in the next
town.But no one can 4D how difficult it would be,being thirteen years old
and telling your friends that you're really into tango.They'd 5A me.So it
was always a bit of a secret between my mom and me-we used to practice
together in the 6D when my dad went out bowling.
Anyway,one day I entered a local competition and I won it,and I was in
the national junior championships final and my partner and I 7B as well.I
couldn't 8C it,but I felt that part of the reason why I'd won was that I'd
never told my friends about how 9D I was getting at tango.If they had come
to see me in the final,I would have been really 10C; it was bad enough when
my dad and sister found out.So I suppose that the original reason for keeping it
secret was to 11B pressure in the competitions.
Later,when I got older,I told some friends,but only the 12A ones,
because I didn't want people to think I had a big ego(自我价值感).What I
13C is that I will never tell others that I was the tango champion.They'd
think you were just trying to 14B them or something. 15D,I don't look
much like a tango dancer,so I can keep it a secret pretty easily.I think that the
most important thing when you're good at something is to know that you're
good at it,not to tell everyone about it.
