A disabled artisan(工匠) who makes clay figurines(泥人) on the street in southwest China’s Sichuan Province has recently become popular across the country.
The artisan, whose last name is Mi, lost his hands in an accident 19 years ago. He didn’t give in, and he learned to eat and get dressed on his own in the year that followed the unexpected accident. Since he was already married then, he thought that he must find a way to make a living by himself and be independent of the help of others, as he “has a family to take care of”. After seeing an artisan making dough figurines(面人) on the street, Mi was attracted to it and decided to learn it himself.
The artisan said he couldn't teach Mi when he saw that Mi had no fingers. Mi didn't give up and finally wore him down. The learning process(过程) was challenging.
