Many people like to keep goldfish as pets because they can be fun to watch. A goldfish has one big fin on its back and little fins underneath(在下面). It uses its fins and tail to help it swim.
Goldfish need a fish tank(鱼缸) with very clean water. Some people put water snails and weed in the tank to keep the water clean.
Goldfish eat fish food. Every goldfish needs just a little bit of food each day. It is important not to give bread to goldfish. They will eat some of it, but it is not good for them. Bread will also make the water in the fish tank dirty.
Goldfish get their air by breathing(呼吸) through their gills. If you see a fish opening and shutting its mouth, it is probably moving water into its mouth and out of its gills. A fish tank can have a pump(泵) that helps keep enough air in the water. You may see air bubbling from the pump.
Baby goldfish hatch(孵化) from eggs. All goldfish are brown when they hatch. As they grow bigger, they will turn gold, red or orange. A few goldfish can even be black.
