Americans love doughnuts very much, so they have a festival for doughnuts. In the USA, the first Friday of June is National Doughnut Day. This year, people celebrate it on June 3rd.

A doughnut is a piece of dough (面团). It has a small hole (洞) in the middle. It usually has a lot of sugar in it. It may not be healthy, but it is easy and cheap to make. Many people like eating it.
People can find doughnuts in most shops in the USA. There are also doughnut chain shops (连锁店), like Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts. Many of them give people free doughnuts on National Doughnut Day. A lot of doughnut shops are open 24 hours a day, so people often have doughnuts for breakfast on their way to work in the morning. But now the doughnut also makes a good late - night snack.
