Fifteen - year - old James Luder talks about a trip in a hot air balloon in Kenya.
Last summer I was lucky to go on a trip with my family to Kenya in Africa. It was an amazing experience where we had the chance to see all the wild animals. It was fantastic. I saw elephants, giraffes and even lions. One lion got up very close to our vehicle, which was quite scary.
The best part of the holiday for me was towards the end when we all had the chance to travel in a hot air balloon over the area where we were staying. We experienced the rare pleasure of viewing wildlife from high up in the sky. We could see the animals in their natural living conditions without scaring them away.
Early in the morning, we sat and had breakfast while the workers filled the balloon with huge fans. The gas burners were lighted and the balloon filled with hot air slowly raising the basket. The workers checked the balloon carefully before we started our journey. After that we climbed into the balloon. We took off right before sunrise when it was still cool. Once in the air the balloon was blown by the winds across the open land.

Apart from the little noise of the burners, the flight above the Masai Mara plains was almost silent. The pilot controlled the height of the balloon by changing the flow of hot air. Sometimes the pilot lowered the balloon over the plains for a close - up view of the wildlife, then he raised it high over the forest for an amazing view. It was truly an experience of a lifetime that I would never forget.
Questions 86—90: Please answer the following questions according to the passage.

In this experiment, we grew plants using cold water, warm water, and hot water to see if the plants grew differently. Before we started the experiment, we had to guess how water temperature might affect plant growth. Everyone in the class thought plants would grow best if they received warm water. We thought if the water was too hot or too cold, the plants wouldn't grow well.
We used six plants for this experiment. Three of them were bean plants. Three of the bean plants were very young. The other three bean plants were older. All of each of these old plants was over 15 cm tall. We labeled the young plants “A” and the old plants “B”.
We then gave the three different A - plants water of different temperatures. For this experiment, we used water at 5 degrees Celsius (cold), 25 degrees Celsius (warm), and 50 degrees Celsius (hot). The plant labeled A - Cold always got cold water. A - Warm got warm water, and A - Hot got hot water. We used similar labels for the B - plants. We gave the plants water on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We also measured(测量)each plant on Tuesday and Thursday. We wrote down the height of each plant in the chart below.
From this experiment, we didn't see a big difference in plant growth because of water temperature. All of the A - plants grew the same. The B - plant that received hot water grew the most, but it wasn't a big difference in our opinion. So we now think water temperature doesn't affect plant growth very much.
Questions 91—95: Please complete the summary of the passage above with not more than three words for each blank.
Some students did an experiment with bean plants. They wanted to see if water temperature affected how fast the plants grew. 91.

Some students did an experiment with bean plants. They wanted to see if water temperature affected how fast the plants grew. 91.
Before
they started the experiment, they guessed that the plants which received 92. warm water
would grow best. During the experiment, they used six plants. They gave two plants cold water, two plants warm water, and two others hot water. They watered the plants 93. three times
a week. They also measured each plant and 94. wrote down
the height of them in the chart. After the experiment, they found that all of the plants grew almost the same, so water temperature didn't really have much 95. influence on
plant growth.
答案:
91. Before。根据第一段第二句“Before we started the experiment, we had to guess how water temperature might affect plant growth.”
92. warm water。根据第一段第三句“Everyone in the class thought plants would grow best if they received warm water.”
93. three times / days。根据第三段中“We gave the plants water on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.”
94. wrote down / recorded。根据第三段最后两句“We also measured(测量)each plant on Tuesday and Thursday. We wrote down the height of each plant in the chart below.”
95. influence / effect on。根据最后一段最后一句“So we now think water temperature doesn't affect plant growth very much.”
