Freya MacDonald was a 15 - year - old student from Scotland. She made the news in the UK when she refused to accept her school's punishment and took legal action Freya's family said that she was given detention many times for little things such as having drinks in class and coming into school through a fire door. The teenager said that it was not legal to keep a pupil in the school building if the student didn't want to be there.
According to Scottish law, every child has the right to get an education. Freya said that repeated detention had a bad influence on her education and made it difficult for her to study. She refused to return to school until the school respected (尊重) her rights.

根据第一段中“It means that students are asked to stay at school at the end of the school day.(这意味着学生要在放学的时候留在学校。)” 根据第三段中“She refused to return to school until the school respected her rights.” 根据最后一段“So many schools in the UK now make a contract with parents. This is a contract explaining the school rules. Parents must agree to the terms of the contract and accept the school's rules.(英国许多学校现在都与家长签订了合同。
