三、阅读理解。
(A)
As an agony aunt, I answer readers’ questions about their problems. But lately I have my own problem. Let me give you two examples.
My friend thinks she is good at playing the piano. She does a lot of practice and wants to enter a big competition. But, in truth, she is not good enough. Should I tell her?
If she tells her friend that she cannot play well, her friend will be very unhappy. But if she does not tell the truth, her friend will join a competition and everyone will beat her. It is good to be honest, but silence can be kinder.
My friend took some money from me. I told him the friendship was over. But he says he is very sorry and it will never happen again. What should I do?
Can you mend a friendship after something like that? If you believe the old friend, the same will probably happen again. But it is a pity to be so strict and refuse (拒绝) to listen to someone’s promises (承诺).
I can see points for and against all my answers. That’s my problem!
