In a small village, there lived a kind-hearted boy named Tom. One day, while exploring the forest near his home, he heard a weak cry. Following the sound, he found a little fox trapped in a hunter’s net. Its leg was hurt, and it looked very scared.
Though a little bit afraid of the wild animal, Tom felt so sorry for the poor fox that he took action without thinking too much. He carefully opened the net and freed the fox. Then, he took it home and tried to treat its wound with some herbs he found in the forest. Every day, Tom fed the fox with fresh meat and water. As the days passed, the fox got better.
At first, the fox was still a bit afraid of Tom. But gradually, it became more and more friendly. It would follow Tom around the house, like a little pet dog. Tom named it “Lucky”.
One day, when Tom was playing outside, a big dog suddenly ran towards him, barking loudly. Tom was frightened. Just then, Lucky rushed out of the house. It stood in front of Tom, growling(咆哮) at the big dog. The big dog was surprised by Lucky’s bravery. After a while, the big dog turned around and ran away.
From that day on, Tom and Lucky became best friends. They would play together in the forest, and Tom would share his secrets with Lucky. Even though one was a human and the other was a fox, their friendship was deep and special. And they knew that no matter what danger came, they would always be there for each other.

Can AI Be a True Friend?
In modern life, we often see AI everywhere. It’s in our phones, helping us search for information, and in smart homes, making our lives more convenient. But can AI be a true friend?
Take the example of a student named Lily. Lily was very shy and had trouble making friends at school. One day, her parents bought her an AI companion(伙伴). The AI could talk to her, tell her interesting stories, and even help with her homework. Lily was excited at first. Whenever she felt lonely, she would chat with the AI. Her AI friend could do so many things for her that Lily thought she didn’t even need a human friend at all.
★. During a school project, she needed to work with classmates. But she found it hard to communicate and cooperate with them because she was so used to the AI’s fixed responses. The AI always agreed with her and never had different opinions. In contrast, real friends can have arguments, but then they make up, and their friendship becomes stronger.
AI can be a great helper. It’s always available, patient, and never gets angry. But true friendship is about more than just having someone to talk to. Real friends can understand our unspoken feelings, share our joys and sorrows in person, and grow together with us.
In my opinion, AI can’t replace true friends. We should use AI wisely and still value the real friendships in our lives. After all, it’s the hugs, the smiles, and the shared experiences with real friends that warm our hearts and make our lives meaningful.
61. The question in Paragraph 1 is raised to ______.
A. stress the key points B. lead into the topic C. make a comparison D. ask for advice
62. Why did Lily have trouble making friends at school?
A. She was too proud. B. She was very shy. C. She spent too much time studying. D. She found the AI better than her classmates.
63. Which of the following can be put in ★?
A. Lily and her AI friend grew to strongly depend on each other B. As time went by, Lily found it impossible to live without the AI C. However, as time went by, Lily realized something was missing D. Lily found the AI most useful while doing school projects
64. According to the passage, true friendship lies in ______.
A. agreeing with each other all the time B. having someone to talk to and hang out with C. understanding, sharing, and growing together D. sharing happiness and avoiding different opinions
65. What’s the writer’s opinion about AI?
A. AI can replace true friends. B. We should not use AI at all. C. AI is cold-blooded and useless. D. We should use AI wisely and value real friendships.
