Li Fanghui: A shining skiing star in China
The 9th Asian Winter Games began on February 7th in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. China had an amazing beginning. In the women's freestyle skiing halfpipe final(自由式滑雪 U 型场地技巧决赛), Li Fanghui scored 95. 25 points and won the first gold medal for China.
Born in 2003 in a small county in Harbin, she showed great talent in sports early. At her primary school, she trained in martial arts(武术). Through daily practice, she developed strength, balance and control— key skills for freestyle skiing.
At just 11 years old, Li was chosen by the national freestyle skiing half-pipe team. She knew talent alone wasn't enough. Every day, she trained tirelessly. In 2022, she joined in the Beijing Winter Olympics. However, a broken collarbone(锁骨) made her down for two years. It was difficult, but she never gave up. She kept working hard to return to her team.
Last year, Li came back with amazing achievements. She took part in World Cup events and the X Games. In these competitions, her excellent skills helped her win medals. "With better training conditions and improved form, I feel my skills progressing," she said. Her words showed her love for skiing.
Not long after her success in Harbin, Li won the women's half-pipe gold medal at the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup. This was a big success. She felt proud but didn't stop there. Now, she has a bigger goal— the 2026 Winter Olympics. She hopes to push herself further.
Her story shows us that life doesn't always go smoothly, and problems are part of it. But with courage, hard work and a positive mind, we can face any difficulty and reach our goals.
