Early bridges were short. The Zhaozhou Bridge,built more than 1,400 years ago,is only about 64 metres(米) long. Then,people built long bridges over big rivers. The Haizhu Bridge,the first steel(钢铁) bridge over the Pearl River(珠江),is about 356 metres long. Now,people build bridges between cities. For example,people built the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge in 2018. This great bridge is 55 kilometres(公里) long and is one of the longest sea-crossing bridges in the world. Before,it took people about three hours to travel between Zhuhai and Hong Kong,but now it only takes 45 minutes.
