In both China and some Western countries, the rose is regarded as a symbol of love. People think the rose stands for love, peace, courage(勇气) and friendship.
In some Asian countries, standing very close to the person you are talking with is quite common. However, if you do this in Europe, some people might feel uncomfortable.
