Adam Diver, a former army captain, got a world record in being the first swimmer to cross from Whitehaven to the Isle of Man. In an iinterview, Diver talked about his big swim with our reporter John.
John: Why did you do the big swim?
Diver: One day, my son Dexter and I were swimming in the sea. SSuddenly, we saw the Isle of Man. Dexter asked me, “Do you think we could swim there?” That was the first time I thought about swimming over.
John: What did you do to pprepare for the big swim?

Diver: I practised every day for three years.
John: What ttrouble did you have?
Diver: I tried my first swim last year and didn’t make it because of the bad weather. We had to plan the second swim.
John: Who helped you keep ssafe?
Diver: I had two people in kayaks (皮艇) watching out for me: one looking for jellyfish and the other giving me food. I also had a boat with another two people about 200 metres away.
John: How did you feel once you finished?
Diver: Do you know the feeling when you come downstairs on your birthday and see your dream ppresent? That’s how I felt when I got out of the sea. I saw my family and it felt like a big party.
