Old people in the world all have their own hobbies. In China, I often see grandmas dance together on squares or play mahjong (麻将). Old men like to get together and play Chinese chess. Light exercise is also popular with them. I once saw an old man walking backward (向后) while clapping (拍手) his hands as a way of exercising.
In the US, old people don't play mahjong. They play cards. Like mahjong, card games are a great way to meet people and have fun. Old people are often lonely (寂寞的) — but hobbies like playing cards can bring friends together.
Old people in the US also enjoy gardening and baking (烘焙). Gardening gives them a chance (机会) to get a little bit of exercise and fresh air, as well as grow vegetables and fruit to cook with. Grandmothers like baking sweet food, such as cookies for their grandchildren. And of course, taking part in the social (社会的) activities with their old friends is popular as well.
