Tom wears a big smile on his face. Right now he's swimming in the sea. It's his best thing. Tom feels the water on his back and on his legs and just then he feels a big fish rubbing (摩擦) on his right arm. "Ahhhh," he says. "That's nice. What's your name? Can you speak?"
Tom hears laughter of kids first, then, "My name is Mrs Potter! As you know! Tom, wake up. Don't daydream!"

Tom sighs (叹气) and looks across the classroom at May. Yesterday he promised (承诺) to play ping-pong with her. May is very good at ping-pong. It's her best thing. She wants to practise for the School Sports Day. "Isn't it nice?" he thinks. "Everybody has a best thing." Then he looks at Mrs Potter and thinks, "She's very kind. She's the best teacher ever!"
Tom looks at May again. He can't see her face but he knows she's sad. "I need a plan," he thinks. "Mrs Potter always tells us we should help each other." Tom remembers (记起) the shiny, red apple in his schoolbag and he smiles... just as the bell rings (铃响) and all the kids shout "Play time!" and run out of the classroom.
A few minutes later, Mrs Potter smiles to herself as she looks out of the window, into the playground. She takes a bite (咬) from her shiny, red apple and watches May and Tom as they play ping-pong. "Tom's right," she thinks. "Ping-pong is May's best thing," she smiles. "Each of my students has a best thing," she thinks.
