It was half past five in the afternoon when Sarah came home from work. She walked into the living room and looked at her three children.

We all have a picture of what our hometown is like in our minds. And we know our way around it just like the back of our hands. We also know things change: You go off to school and when you come back, everything seems different.
I grew up in South Carolina. I always thought it was a small town until I left for Newberry College. Newberry is a small town, and there isn't much to do. I never realized how much there was to do in my hometown. I could walk to our outside mall(商场) and go to the movies, go shopping...
My town was a quiet town in my mind where everyone knew each other. But when I came back the summer, I realized how wrong I was. I couldn't believe my eyes. For example, my high school was cool because everything was outside. Sure it was terrible when it rained. But it was so much fun when the playground became a 'lake'. Now it's indoors. I understand why they decided to do this—to keep the students safe.

Maybe my hometown is changing for the better, just like me. I'll always remember what my hometown is and what it was before I left for college.
