Chinese festivals!
There is a fascinating(令人神往的) festival in China
where people in the south hold dragon boat races. These long wooden boats have been
painted dragons along the both sides, with the front carved(雕刻) like a dragon's
head. In each team there are over twenty rowers plus a drummer(鼓手) who keeps
the beat(节奏).
The races get really exciting—especially near the finish line! Cheering crowds
shout for their favourite teams. This thrilling(紧张的) race gives the festival its
name：Dragon Boat Festival.
This special day (also called Duanwu Festival) goes way back to ancient times.
It honors the poet Qu Yuan. People always eat sticky rice(糯米) dumplings (also
called zongzi) to remember(纪念) him.
