3Read the passage. 读短文。
Amazing facts about elephants
Elephants are the largest land animals in the world. They are very smart animals with many amazing skills.
Elephants know how to protect (保护) themselves. If you visit a safari park, you may see elephants throw dirt on themselves. They do this because dirt protects their skin. Insects (昆虫) can't bite them and the sun won't burn them.
Elephants have smart ways to find water in the wild. During the dry season, elephants use their feet and tusks to dig wells (井) and find water to drink, bathe and play in. After elephants leave, smaller animals run to these wells for water.
Elephants can also help people. In Indonesia, elephants are trained to help fight forest fires. They carry water pumps (泵) into the forest and help put out fires.
What other amazing facts do you know about elephants?
